Traveling in your RV is thrilling and fun, but you do still have some tasks you have to complete every day. One of the most important things you’ll have to do on your trip is ensure that you and your fellow passengers have delicious and healthy meals to eat each day. You don’t want to rely too much on fast food or convenience store snacks, but you also don’t want to spend hours in a small kitchen exhausting yourself. Here are some tips to make cooking meals in your RV a cinch.

Use a Slow Cooker

Slow cookers are useful at home and in your camper because they take away the need to turn on the oven or stovetop to make a hot meal. All you have to do is fill them up with meats, vegetables, broth, and seasonings in the morning, turn them on, and let your food cook over several hours. A quick tossed salad and some crusty bread will complete your meal with almost no prep!

Prep in Advance

Taking some time to prepare foods while you’re still at home can be a real boon when you’re traveling in your RV. Spend an afternoon cooking your favorite lasagna, chili, or stew recipe that you can then portion out into microwaveable containers and stick in your RV’s freezer. When dinnertime comes around, you only need to heat up the food and it’s all ready for you.

Clean As You Go

Since your RV kitchen is small and there isn’t a lot of counter space, it’s helpful to clean up your work area as you cook. Make sure you’re scraping vegetable cuttings into the compost, rinsing cutting boards and knives, setting pots aside to soak, and putting your ingredients away as soon as you’ve used them to give yourself as much room as possible for meal prep.
